The duo of saxophonist Colin Webster and drummer Mark Holub deliver raw, guttural
free jazz, gnarling and thrashing and taking no prisoners. Evincing a musical dialog
informed by over a decade of collaboration, the duo releases their fourth album, and
first LP, ‘Nadir’ on Raw Tonk Records in February.
Mark Holub is best known as leader of avant-jazz quintet Led Bib, a unit with an
international live reputation and a discography that boasts several critically
acclaimed albums. Now a resident of Vienna, he is also highly active within the
Austrian experimental music community.
London based Colin Webster is quickly establishing himself on the European avant
garde scene, collaborating with some of the key figures in improvised and experimental
music. Webster is also a member of noise rock 'super group' Sex Swing.
The album was recorded in one intense session at the Hackney Road Studios in London,
and engineered and mixed by Tim Cedar who also worked on the duo’s third album
‘Viscera’. Cedar’s powerful yet minimal approach perfectly captures both the ferocity
and stillness inherent in the duo’s music.
